Smoltz Stinks
I was at my writer's group last night, monitoring the game on my MLB app on my iPhone. Was it really as awful as it appeared?
Retire today, John Smoltz. Or go to the bullpen as a mop-up man. Or pull a Bartolo Colon and fly home, then tell the team you've decided not to come back. Thanks a lot, that would be great.
Hope is restored tonight when Josh Beckett takes the mound against his former Marlins teammate, A.J. Burnett. Burnett has a lousy track record against the Sox this season, but prior to that, he had been undefeated. Beckett, meanwhile, leads the league in wins as he goes for his 14th tonight.
Since Jane Heller is fond of Yankees look-alikes, I thought I'd post this one of my least favorite Yankee. His resemblance to Bat Boy of the Weekly World News is downright uncanny, don't you agree?

It's kind of a cheap shot, but it makes accepting last night's 13-6 (not 16-3) drubbing just a little easier.
YOU GOT THE SCORE WRONG!!! 13-6! And it is an uncanny resemblance! And it is long overdue for Smoltz to go to the pen. He is masterful for 1 or 2 innings but that is it.

Ha! Julia, it felt like 16-3! I have edited it.
Smoltz seems to be OK for his first couple of innings and then the second time through the lineup, teams are just waiting on his fastball. Not good!

Great look-alike, Steve! LOL. And I had to do a double take when you said you were at your writer's group last night checking the score on your MLB app. I was at mine doing the exact same thing! Maybe you should just fly in for my group and we could announce the scores at regular intervals.
