Ortiz Dropped to Sixth
David Ortiz has been a permanent fixture in the Number 3 slot in the lineup since 2005. Tonight he'll bat sixth, trading places with J.D. Drew. This keeps the lefty-righty batting order intact. Remember what happened the last time Drew was moved into the three-spot? This.
This seems like an opportunity for Ortiz to hide a bit in the lower part of the lineup. It's somewhat symbolic that he would get this restart in Minnesota where he got his start in baseball.
The new batting order:
1. Ellsbury, cf
2. Pedroia, 2b
3. Drew, rf
4. Youkilis, 3b
5. Bay, lf
6. Ortiz, dh
7. Varitek, c
8. Bailey, 1b
9. Lugo, ss
Mike Lowell's got the night off, so Youk moves to third and Jeff Bailey plays first.
Shhhh. Maybe if we don't pay attention, Big Papi will go 3-for 4 tonight.

And Big Papi started off with a double! If only they could have brought him home!
