Manny* Being Manny*

I was afraid this day would come.
Here's what I think:
Every word I've ever written about A-Rod's cheating goes equally for Manny Ramirez*. Both were players that I loved to watch. Both were perhaps the best hitters I have ever seen. Now both are deserving of asterisks next to their career numbers, just as much as Barry Bonds.
I do not trust any players anymore. Well, maybe Tim Wakefield. Maybe.
I had a lot of resentment for Manny* when he did what he did to get out of his contract with the Red Sox. I'm glad no team but the Dodgers offered him a deal this offseason and I'm glad he didn't get the six-year contract he was seeking. And I'm glad he's gone.
But I'm not glad he cheated.
I'd like to think Manny* juiced up only after he left Boston, which would explain the ridiculous power numbers he put up in L.A. last year. But I'm too cynical at this point to entertain such a thought.
A-Rod must be doing cartwheels right now. All that scrutiny brought on by that new book on him by Selena Roberts just got pushed aside for the time being.

Yep. That pretty much sums it up.

wphmk - and A-rod cheated with the Yankees? Steve - I am furious with Manny, A-Rod, Clemens, Bonds and ALL the others who have cheated! If what has been said is true and Manny did pass 15 previous drug tests before the one during this past ST, then he might not have used in Boston. I saw an interview with Mike Lowell tonight - the players have a resource with MLB before they use something - they can send it to be tested to make sure it won't give them a positive test. There is no longer any excuse for a player to test positive.

Steve,
I absolutely agree with you. Just because I loved Manny much more than A-Rod (I hate A-Rod), doesn't mean he gets off easy.

Steve - you might want to stop by my blog today! Scott has paid off his debt for the Red Sox sweeping the Yankees in May. The photos are awesome!

I feel ya on this... still, don't know if Manny suddenly got the idea to this while in L.A. Probably going on for a while. And I respect Manny's ability, but feel that Pujols is a better (pure) hitter.

The players I trust are Tim Wakefield, Albert Pujois, Torii Hunter and Dustin Pedroia. And other players to be named later. Manny, you're a bum. Nuf said.
