Yanks 87, Sox 46

Four hours of solid offense and poor pitching that couldn't hold leads. If you missed the game last night, consider yourself lucky. The actual score, by the way, was 15-9.

I had a good time trading comments with a few Yankees and Red Sox fans over at the Heartland Digital Living Room (that's HDLR for the cool cats in the know). Thanks to Jason for the invite--and good luck with your new blog host.

I won't even attempt to revisit last night's forgettable mess. At some point during what appeared to be a live-action remake of the game between Bugs Bunny and the Gas-House Gorillas, I suggested to Jason that he recap the game in chapters rather than mere paragraphs. Since he took my advice, here it is. I'll say this much: the guy can write.
Nice work, Jason.

Next up: Josh Beckett squares off against Mike Mussina. I still say Moose has overstayed his welcome and won't win more than 10 games this season. Expect a good clean victory for the Sox tonight and a series split.

Thanks for the kind words, Steve. The Bugs Bunny reference is hilarious, a great reference to a classic cartoon. It was nice to have you by, and I'll keep a digital leather recliner open for you in the future. There is an HDLR for a game in the Yanks' series against Cleveland, but I'm not sure which day it is yet. Feel free to come by, though it might coincide with a Red Sox game.

Games like yesterday really work the gut. The Red Sox are really tough and resilient, and I didn't feel comfortable in the slightest when it got to 7-3 Yankees. Heck, I only figured it was "probably" unnecessary to use Mariano when it was 15-9. In those games and in general against Boston, I don't breathe easily until the final out. I was that way even BEFORE the 2004 ALCS comeback.

Keep up the good work.

hey steve, loved watching that cartoon again-

enjoyed your comments at jason's place- come back anytime.

that was quite a game- not as enjoyable as some of the other marathons in the last couple of years. of course the end worked out ok or me, but a 51 minute inning does get a little tedious.

Before I forget Steve, congratulations on being #2 at Top 100 Baseball Sites. That's very impressive out of all the blogs. You do good work here, so I'm not surprised.

Win or lose, I love the fact these games take forever to play, as I wrote today http://brnxbomb2.mlblogs.com/ What's your take?

Speaking of Mussina, I am still stuck on last Saturday - the only logical reason I can think of why Girardi left Moose in to face Manny after Ramirez had already hit a 700ft bomb off of him is to give Moose a shot of confidence. Manny did go off the plate to get his RBI's, he hit a good pitch. But at the end of the day, regardless of Bruney being unable to get Youkilis anyway, he is still Manny Ramirez, put him on with first base open and take your chances with the next guy, right? I mean it's not as if it's the first or second inning and Sandy Koufax is on the mound, right?

Thanks again Jason. Not sure I can contribute much to future sessions unless the games are televised nationally. I usually pick up the Extra Innings package at the second half of the season at an affordable price.

Mike, you seem like you know baseball pretty well. What, no blog?

Steve

Steve, anytime you can toss in a Gas-House Gorillas reference you know you are doing something right. That's good stuff.

i'll look forward to reading your stuff though.

Haha... great video in this context. I'm one of the lucky ones :)
